MISSIONS

Missions Logo

Our global and local missions causes are a natural outpouring of the passion we have for sharing the good news of Jesus with the world. Primarily, our church focuses on our causes in India and Haiti (which you can read more about below), but our Missions Team is involved with many other global and local causes that you can plug in to. If you would like further information about how you can give to any of these opportunities, join a future missions trip, or serve on one of our oversight teams, contact Mike Coffman here or Steph Steveson here.

Global Missions

AIM ASIA
AIM ASIA is a registered humanitarian agency, engaged in literacy programs, child and orphan care, leprosy care, health & educational programs, widow care, vocational training and pastoral training. It has been serving the cause of the poor and the disenfranchised in the sub-continent since 1986. Specializing in child care, over 2000 needy children are at the moment raised in AIM ASIA’s orphanages and day care centers with free hostel facility, food, clothing, medical attention, education and counsel. ICC members participate in orphan sponsorship and mission trips to India to support AIM ASIA.

THOUSAND HILLS HAITI
Thousand Hills Ministry seeks innovative and practical ways to financially strengthen the developing world church, specifically in Haiti.  Director Brian Stout and his wife Kathy live in Florida and work with various partners to develop sustainability projects in Haiti.  Several ICC members have gone on mission trips to Haiti to work with Brian and support the Haitian church in a variety of ways.

TOM & JOANN DOYLE
Tom and JoAnn Doyle recently launched a new ministry called UnCharted. Their ministry is to “the least of these”–the Underground Church, Persecuted Believers, Reaching the Remaining Holocaust Survivors, the Muslims in America, and Refugees from the Middle East.   JoAnn heads up a ministry called Not Forgotten that ministers to Muslim women here and abroad. Her team of women are reaching out to Muslim women and refugees here in the states and they also take trips to other countries to encourage persecuted women believers and connect with. ICC has supported them since 2002 when they were with E3 Partners. Please contact Jerry Selby at jselby@mchsi.com if you want to get the Doyle’s newsletter or are interested in a trip.

DREW & STACY FRAZER
Drew and Stacy serve with The Navigators at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Their focus is evangelism and discipleship, as they train their students to be ministers, not just attend ministry or church. They have weekly Bible studies, weekly large group meetings called Nav Night, outreach events called Investigative Bible Conversations, month training with their student leadership team, and lots of one-on-one investment in the students at CU.

DOUG & JEN DROLL
Doug and Jen Droll, originally from the Johnston E. Free church, are missionaries in Romania with International Messengers. They have 5 children and are homeschooling them. The Drolls are primarily involved with church planting and discipleship. They have been reaching out to the Roma (gypsy) people in Romania. Doug and Jen do a lot of small group Bible studies, one-to-one discipleship, and organize an English-speaking camp every summer as an outreach to unbelievers. They need volunteers from the US to help them with the camps. If you are interested in going on a missions trip to help in Romania and/or want to receive the Droll’s newsletter by email, please email Lois Selby; lselby@mchsi.com.

JON & MARY CASKEY
Jon and Mary were appointed with Greater Europe Mission (facebook.com/GEMission) February 26th, 2013. They will be working at The Camp of the Peaks just outside of Le Bourg D’Oisans in France. The camp’s motto is “A haven in France for God to save the lost and strengthen the found”. Jon will be taking over as facilities maintenance manager and Mary will be helping with administration and cooking. They are excited to be joining the permanent staff and ministry there.

TABLE OF PLENTY
We provide free meals to hungry people in our community on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 5:30P – 6:30P. Meals are shared in our lobby, and we need help making and serving food.

HELPING THE HOMELESS
Partnering with Joppa Outreach for their annual Spring clean up of the homeless camps, in the Des Moines area, is among the many ways you can volunteer. Check out Joppa’s website to see where you can volunteer, www.joppaoutreach.org.
