Missions Committee Annual Report
October 2006 - September 2007

Missions Highlights -

Regular Support for Missionaries:
• ICC supports missions work in our community, on University campuses, throughout the state and country, and around the world by helping to provide regular support for 15 missionaries.

Short-Term Missons Trips:
Honduras – Ken and Roseanne Voltmer continue their ministry in Honduras with two trips each year. This past summer Greg and Becky Abbott accompanied them. Gary Ripperger had planned to go but delays getting his passport made it necessary for him to cancel at the last minute. The feeding program for the school children continues to grow. They are currently feeding 1,200 students three meals per week. Support from the ICC Missions budget and generous individual contributions have helped make this possible. John Eilers wrote a book, “Appointments to Miracles”, and donations received for that book have all been used to help with the feeding program. Contributions for the last trip included $1,643 from the pizza fundraiser, $1,550 from donations for John Eilers' book and designated gifts, and $500 from short-term missions. The Gideons provided more New Testaments that were handed out to junior high and high school students.
• Other short-term missions trips supported by ICC included:
Danielle Hein Vietnam trip: Danielle Hein, a student at Northwestern College (MN), spent four weeks in Vietnam this summer with ELIC (English Language Institute/China).
Pastor John India trip: Pastor John will be going to India in November to minister at a conference for Indian pastors. This is similar to the trip that Pastor Dave took. Joab Lohara and his wife (from India) met with missions committee members and elders about the trip and their ministry in India. We were able provide support for Pastor John’s travel expenses, scholarships for the Indian pastors to attend the conference (10 @ $40 each), and a one-time gift ($500) to support their work with orphans.
Poland Partnership:
(5-year partnership with EFCA missions in Poland; approved fall 2004)
• The Kieffer family was in the states for almost one year, and visited ICC on January 23, 2007 to report on their ministry. They returned to Poland in June and this fall they are adjusting to having their girls away at boarding school in Germany.
• Shelley Kieffer and their two girls, Rachel and Katelyn, were featured at the women’s retreat. The women raised $440 that was used to buy the girls study Bibles, Web cams for communicating with their parents while away at boarding school, and other school supplies.
• Dave and Sasha Bliss have completed their first year in Poland, with the focus on language training and preparation for ministry.
• Poland Consortium Summit meetings – no meetings were held this year

Special Missions Projects:
Orphan girls in Romania: The congregation helped put together gift bags for orphan girls in Romania. They arrived after Christmas, so the school supplies were saved for the next year, and the other gifts were given to the girls at a special event in March.
Pizza Fundraiser: Mark Uitermarkt and his small group put their culinary skills to work for a pizza missions fundraiser. They raised over $1,643 that was used for the children’s feeding program in Honduras.
VBS missions project: the kids made and shipped bandages to the Tandala Hospital in Africa.

Missions Events:
Poland Missions (Kieffer Family): On January 20-21 we had the opportunity to get to know the Kieffer family better and learn more about their ministry in Poland. There was an informal get together on Saturday night, and on Sunday there were brief presentations during each service, a presentation between services, and lunch.
Middle East and Israel (Tom Doyle): We were privileged to have Tom Doyle at ICC on April 14-15. He presented updates on how God is at work in the Middle East on Saturday evening and during both services on Sunday morning. He also fielded questions during a potluck on Sunday and during an informal get together later in the afternoon before going to the airport. God is doing incredible things under extremely difficult circumstances in the Middle East! The congregation responded with a very generous offering (at least $1,040) for missions work, and the missions committee gave a one-time gift of $1,500 to supplement our regular support for his ministry.
Honduras missions: Dessert and sharing time on July 29. Ken and Rosanne Voltmer and Greg and Becky Abbott shared about their recent (July 2-16) trip to Honduras, and the Happ family, full-time missionaries to Honduras that we support, reported on their ministry.
